A food-processing equipment manufacturer asked Twentebelt to engineer a fit-for-purpose conveyor belt to fit in a revolutionary food processing machine that was designed by them and is optimized for cooking and cooling vacuumized packages of sausages. The application of this food processing machine required our engineering team to come up with a conveyor belt that completely eliminates the potential risk of the conveyor belt breaking the vacuum seal of the products.
Twentebelt designed a robust chain-driven eyelink belt that is entirely manufactured out of high quality stainless steel. Due to the smart placement of the edge-plates, there was no need for an additional edge seal in the machine itself. Twentebelt‘s solution required no modifications to be made to the original design of the machine.
The main challenge was to create a belt that eliminates the potential risk of the conveyor belt breaking the vacuum seal of the products. As the products are cooked or cooled they can freely move within the water which meant they could practically bounce into all the parts of the belt that would normally be sharp. Therefore we needed to carefully think of the best and cost-efficient way to tackle that challenge.
