Battering

A battering conveyor belt is a metal conveyor belt engineered to move food products through industrial battering processes while supporting even coating, batter drainage and hygienic cleaning under continuous, wet and sticky conditions. Industrial battering applies a liquid batter, slurry or edible coating to a product before the next production step, usually breading, frying, cooking or freezing. The conveyor belt sits directly in that step. It determines how the product is supported, how evenly it moves through the applicator, and how much batter stays on the product instead of draining away.

Get the belt wrong and the line pays for it downstream: uneven coating, clumping, batter build-up on the belt and longer cleaning stops. Get it right, and coating weight, product flow and cleaning performance stop being variables you have to manage manually.

Every product on a battering line needs the same thing: an even coat, front to back and side to side, with the excess drained away before it reaches the next stage. When belt speed, product spacing or drainage is inconsistent, the belt is usually where the inconsistency started.

An open metal conveyor belt structure lets batter reach the underside of the product and drain straight through, instead of pooling on the belt surface and riding back into the process. That is the difference between a belt that transports product and a belt that becomes part of the coating.

The right structure depends on the product. Delicate products need a stable, supportive surface. Heavier products need strength and rigidity.
